BEACHES:
The coast of Sesimbra presents a unique diversity of landscapes, from where some of the most beautiful beaches in the country stand out.

On the west coast, the territory is crossed by the Albufeira Lagoon, very popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing. A little further south is Moinho de Baixo beach, next to Aldeia do Meco, characterized by its extensive sandy beaches. Continuing along the coast you arrive at Rio da Prata, one of the first naturist beaches in the country, and shortly after comes Bicas beach, a favorite place for surf lovers. From then on, the cliffs become increasingly higher and steeper, hosting small coves such as Foz or Lagosteiros, beaches that impress with their beauty and geological interest. After rounding Cape Espichel, the south coast reveals small coves that are difficult to access, shrouded in mysteries and pirate stories.

Praia Ribeiro do Cavalo. Access to this paradise can be done by boat or via a mountain path, which, in addition to some physical preparation, requires good knowledge of the place. The effort of the walk is rewarded as soon as you reach the sand.

Following the coastline you enter the bay of Sesimbra, with its calm sea, where nautical and leisure activities coexist with the arts and traditions of fishing. To the west is Praia do Ouro, and on the opposite side, California. In the center, as if delimiting them, is the Fortaleza de Santiago, a 17th century construction that imposingly marks the sand, the bay and the town.

In recent years, Ouro and California, as well as the Moinho de Baixo, in Meco, received the Blue Flag, an award that distinguishes the best beaches in Europe, both for their environmental quality and safety conditions, as well as for the support equipment and environmental education activities carried out.

SESIMBRA:
The municipality de Sesimbra is located in the southwest of the Setúbal Peninsula, has an area of 194.98 square kilometers and is part of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. It is limited to the north by the municipalities of Almada and Seixal, to the northeast by Barreiro, to the east by Setúbal and to the south west by the Atlantic Ocean. Its coastline, with multiple landscapes, extends from Lagoa de Albufeira to Serra da Arrábida.

As for the parish of Castelo, the largest of the three in area, its formation dates back to May 27,1388. It is an eminently rural parish and still functions today as an important supply market for the town of Sesimbra, with fruits, vegetables, bread and Queijo da Azoia, a product much sought after by Sesimbra residents and visitors. Despite still maintaining the rurality that characterizes it, it still stands out for its extractive industry, construction and tourism, the latter more associated with Aldeia do Meco.

The municipality of Sesimbra is located on the Setúbal peninsula and is part of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. From Lisbon, the main access is via the A2, until the Fogueteiro junction, and then via the EN 378. From Setúbal, access is via the EN 10 to Azeitão and the EN 379.
